Accelerating the global energy transition 

Student Energy is a global youth-led organization empowering young people to accelerate the sustainable energy trasnition.

 

They work with over 50, 000 young people from over 120 countries to build the skills, networks and knoweldge needed to take action on energy. 

 

In Oct 2020, UWEN (University of Waterloo Energy Network) club collaborated with Student Energy to form UWSE and since then we have been successful in hosting exciting chats with energy experts and energy challenges to enrich the student knowledge of sustainability.

Ener-Challenge W21 challenged students to define a problem specific to a Canadian community based on the Grand Engineering Challenge: Access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy 

​

The winning team proposed microgrids to extend solar energy capabilities, geothermal energy to capitalize on overflowed retired mining tunnels and a united coalition of the affected communities to address the need for energy reliability in Yellowknife, the capital of the Northwest Territories.
